Container vs. Trajectory
A home is not an identity. It is simply an operational container.
The universal script says buying real estate is an undisputed milestone of adult success. If your objective is multi-decade roots, raising children through a single school district, or living near family, purchasing property offers genuine structural and emotional stability. Stability has value.
This analysis is for a different type of operator: the person carrying quiet guilt because they rent, or the homeowner staring at a 30-year note realizing their largest asset is also their heaviest anchor.
That 20th-century script was engineered for an era of 30-year corporate pensions, localized labor markets, and forced savings for people lacking financial discipline. Today, technological disruption and AI can rewrite entire industries in months, not decades. Work is fluid, opportunities appear unpredictably, and mobility is leverage. Evaluating shelter through a script from last century is an operational miscalculation.
